Step-by-Step Cleaning Guide
To keep your hat clean and looking new, follow these steps:
1. Dry Brushing: Use a soft-bristled brush or a lint roller to completely remove surface dust and loose dirt before adding water.
2. Prepare a Basin: Fill a clean sink or bucket with cool or lukewarm water. Mix in a tablespoon of mild, non-bleach laundry detergent or dish soap.
3. Spot Clean Stains: Dip a soft toothbrush or clean cloth into the soapy water. Gently scrub sweatbands and visible stains in small circular motions.
4. Submerge and Soak: Dunk the hat completely into the water. Let it soak for 15 to 20 minutes to lift deep-seated oils and sweat.
5. Rinse Thoroughly: Run the hat under cool tap water until all soap residue is completely rinsed out and the water runs clear.
Drying and Reshaping Instructions
Improper drying can permanently ruin the shape of your hat. Always adhere to these rules:
• Squeeze, Don't Wring: Gently press the fabric with a clean towel to remove excess water. Never twist, wring, or bend the hat's bill.
• Stuff the Crown: Place a small balled-up towel, an upside-down bowl, or a coffee can inside the cap while it dries. This forces the crown to retain its natural, rounded shape.
• Air Dry Only: Leave the hat to dry overnight in a well-ventilated indoor space. Keep it away from direct sunlight and heat sources, which can fade the dyes or shrink the cotton.
Essential "Don'ts" for our hats
• Do not machine wash: Washing machine agitators can easily crush the panels.
• Do not use a dryer: High heat will shrink cotton variants and ruin the adhesive bonds inside structured brims.
• Avoid the dishwasher: Dishwasher detergents are highly abrasive and often contain bleaching agents that ruin hat dye.
• Special note for Faux Suede: If you own a Nissi Faux Suede Cap, minimize water exposure entirely. Instead, opt strictly for dry brushing and a damp cloth spot treatment on the interior band only.
